about

Stage Invasion has been two years in the making and features collaborations with Dr. Syntax (The Mouse Outfit), Bubber Loui (Aspects) and John Hendicott (Joe Driscoll, Chipmunk, Portico Quartet).

The driving force remains reggae hip-hop but the record spans a sonic labyrinth of rock, ska and dub, and is bound by the dynamic energy that is synonymous with Babyhead.

Track Name: Stage Invasion
Hey yo
Everybody let’s go
Jump start the show
Come on everybody do the stage invasion
Stage invasion, stage invasion
Stage invasion, stage invasion
It aint an order its an invitation
Come on everybody do the stage invasion
Welcome one and all back to babyboom town Its been a long time let me show you around Boom! it’s how I feel right now
Sing a sun down from behind the cloud
Front to the back row you gotta let me know If everybody's ready say go - Go!
Express elevator to the underground sound We’re going down
Stage invasion, stage invasion
Stage invasion, stage invasion
It aint an order its an invitation
Come on everybody do the stage invasion
We never really went away but
guess who’s back
If we been below the radar put us back on your map
Yes the boys with the bad track record with the fat cat record executive
the kings of mixed messages
I’ll tell you what it is what it is what it is we still gotta whole lotta love to give Love is all I bring
Its why we’re in this thing
and we still got a whole lotta life to live
Track Name: Here I Come
Into the monotone world I came down
huge ray of sunshine through your rain cloud I beamed down to the black and white planet with a big can of technicolor paint
and a plan to create a world never heard of for the boys and girls of the world like
ready or not
here i come
here I come
here I come to save the day
Into the wackatone world I came down
huge ray of sunshine through your rain cloud We beamed down to the black and white planet with a big can of technicolor paint
and a plan to create a world never heard of
for the boys and girls of the world like
ready or not
here i come
here I come
here I come to save the day
Boom! Panoramic through the granite kingdom Spreading the panic with he mega phone
on the sonic waves
Do more damage with an idea than bubonic plague infectious it filters
like smoke through the philia
with sucker padded tentacles.
I’m tendrils through your living room. Invisible like germs through the hospitals
I travel invisible like germs through the hospitals
Pack mask and a cape,
a flask of tea and some cake
Your ghetto blaster and favourite tapes
Activate sleeper cells and await the transmission Stand by your radio be ready for the mission
if you never heard the word you better listen
I don’t follow protocol got no love for the system What about the heads that tried to stay straight Its up to us to twist em.
I dribble the lyrical drivel to give all the miserable people a bit of a giggle
Defeat the bullies, the bigger they come
The harder they fall
The bigger they build the wall
The kryptonite wrecking balls gotta be subtle
Huddle
My gangsters just need a cuddle
Shazam
it doesn't get bigger than Tupac and Biggie was when they was winning and bringing each other the pain that finished their innings but riddle me this - who's the winner?
Riddle me that
Reshuffle the pack and play it back
The players change but the game remains the same The dealer always wins
Track Name: Roquefort Rap
What we gonna do? Tell em what we come to do We came to make you move
We came to make you move
Who's in the house tonight?
You may be a future president or a gangster
You might invent a cure cancer, be a dancer
You might get high tonight And cry you might
You may bump into the wrong guy and die
You might be an astronaut’s wife or a man of war
I might inspire you to jack it in to pick up a mic and that in turn may lead to you meeting the love of your life and boom
Into the great unknown
Who knows what will grow when these seeds are sown Message in bottle floating on the air waves through these villages the towns and the city-scapes
Across this little island on the planet earth
In the infinessence of the universe and that’s my word
That’s my word
So here we go another night on this little rock
7 billion and counting and we just don’t stop
All over the planet it’s the same tonight
A million voices amplified through a million mics Reaching out to the crowd as they scream out loud We try to lose our selves in the same light
We try to lose ourselves - oh!
I fell hyped tonight I feel the vibe is right
The kick thump heavy and the snare snap tight I feel like If I grab a mic and let loose
Everything is gonna be alright
But it might not I might drop
Hard to the ground when the music stop
So I sing this song like it was my last one
I dunno how many I got to sing before I move along and then I’m gone
What I came to do? Let me tell you what I came to do Gonna Lick a little dirt on my brand new shoes
What I come to do? Let me tell you what I come to do Fix an elixir mix it 6 part liquor make it 1 part juice What I come to do? Let me tell you what I come to do Hot pink bow-tie lime green zoot suit
What I come to do? Let me tell you what I come to do I came to make you move so move
We came to make you move so move people move
Track Name: Be Yourself
Peace to all artist just getting started
And them what stuck to their guns for the long run
and never bought in to the stereo hype bunkum
Heads that still think before they verbalise the ink and Spit Never swallow the bullshit metered out by the media clowns up on the pulpit. Hold it
Before I swallow that mixture
You better tell me what’s in it
not an optimist nor cynic I’m a realist
Wait a minute
There’s kids buying the myth of get rich or die trying
The prisons are full, the drug trade is thriving
The emperor wears no clothes but has the biggest crib
Fill a bank vault with gold and that’s where loneliness lives.
I told you once I told you twice
Tell em again
Remember the words smak daddi told me Way back when
Fashion come and go so follow no trend 99% style 1% content
So be yourself
Little man rise up against that macho faction
The natural fact is I cant get no satisfaction
Never ending trend reducing women to receptacles
Bit parts penned by men with no lead in their pencil
One dimensional characters that don’t hold water
And Its shaping the future for my nieces and god daughters
I got a wife, mother, sister and a crew of females who inspire me to be a better man
For that I’m grateful
I told you once I told you twice
Tell em again
Remember the words smak daddi told me Way back when
Fashion come and go so follow no trend 99% style 1% content
So be yourself
My TV screens are awash with identikit rappers
Outside of the box its a book of many chapters
Real hip hop happens every second of every day
In back rooms and street corners and it aint getting paid and when it does
The green often poisons the well
The moneyman cant create he replicates what sells.
Takes the raw elements and polish em so smooth
That it looks and sounds the same
Now I can’t move for rappers saying rappers all sound the same Now I sound the same as rappers saying rappers all sound the same
Its all a cycle its all in the game.
So I don't get heavy hearted I remember where I started and I carry on regardless of the market
Remember that home is where the heart is
Water the family tree
Hold your true friends the hardest Just be yourself
i said peace to all artists
Track Name: The Kids
When you get to thinking life just to messed up to live
Think next generation
Think about the kids
Just think this ink is like the liquid that they drinking in The message might begin sinking in I get an inkling
If we could bring some elevation
Bring some elevation
Get em off their playstation Off their playstation
Fire up imagination get em hatching some plans Not just yapping for the trappings of acting the man
Get out into the fields sharing your toys
Playing cowboys injuns mixing magic potions in the kitchen Fixing things can be as much fun as smashing it up
And we love smashing it up
Everybody get up
Go play havoc in the traffic
Build a tree house in the attic
Kill the television static
Stop the hostile make over of my town
Burn the billboards down.
Cos I sing still when no one listening to the words
And I stand firm for every man, woman boy and girl
And I stand still when panic runs amok through the herds We must move
For want of a better world
I wonder around with my head in the sky
My ear to the ground and wild fire in my eye Spend most of my life trying to hold my smile right
Hold back the night and show the inner child
Daddy do right.
Yeah I'm doing ok
I aint never losing sight of the light through the trees In the night of the wild wild woods we play
Cos I sing still when no one listening to the words
And I stand firm for every man, woman boy and girl
And I stand still when panic runs amok through the herds We must move
For want of a better world
Track Name: It Ain't You
Lady it aint you
I just got so much on my mind Gonna make it through
But its gonna be a bumpy ride
You say skies blue
But there’s trouble on the tide
You say its true
We gonna see some sunshine soon
So hold on tight hold on tight
So hold on tight hold on tight
Can you see the skies are darkening I can see the storm clouds coming in
I can be so cold
I got them stone cold killer eyes And when I hurt you so
Oh how it weighed me down inside I should share the load
Though I can see for 40 miles
Of rocky road
Its gonna see some sunshine soon
So hold on tight hold on tight
So hold on tight hold on tight
Can you see the skies are darkening I can see the storm clouds coming in
Lady it aint you
Track Name: Killing Time Pt 2
I’m at work trying not go berserk
Take a deep breath and focus on the screen
I start to drift in between awake and asleep
The alpha state a dark day dream
I’m a Ghost in the machine
A Post-apocalyptic scene
A Nightmare where I leave for the office armed to the teeth beneath my trench coat
Unseen I’m packing a buck knife
A sniper rifle with an infra red beam
Its in the a.m. as I walk the city streets
You can feel the people buckle under the sticky city heat
Hear the hiss and steam of the mans machinery working
There’s a pressure in the air
Wet electric hurt
In my head I’m Armageddon
Stopping strangers to tell em the there already dead and there’s no heaven
So be in bed by eleven and take what your given and call it living Pray that your forgiven keep singing
I’m standing on the pavement looking at the building that I’ve attended daily for 14 years maybe
More through the back door from a side street
Side stepping these security guards they never liked me invisible I’m waiting for the lift
The same people every day they don’t even know my name But all of that’s about to change I look around me
I’m surrounded by worker ants and robots
This guy by my side has noticed something aint right
I need to defecate and my collars too tight
I catch these sideways eyes I volunteer a toffee smile The lift arrives I drift inside
I shift my weight from side to side
In my left hand I clutch a photo of my wife In my right I clutch my favourite knife
and
I
Giggle
The elevator stops at the fourteenth floor
I feel my heart beating fast as the soft metal doors slide open I survey the office floor for a moment
I see a life stolen
I see my atonement
Don’t know How many times I've told em
But no-one ever listens now its me that is holding
destiny in my hands and this silence is golden
The silence is broken
The violence is rollin'
Rolling smoke bomb down the isle
The choking, the cries
The smoke in the eyes
The red dot between the eyes of the office hot shots Cock the hammer back
Just to hear em scream
Hammer ring
I’m just venting my spleen
Head shot flesh wound
Head shot flesh wound
Now its quiet
I kiss the photo of my wife then put it up on the shelf
Sit in the bosses chair and turn the gun on myself
Wake up breath hard at work think fast
Thank my lucky stars that we're living where we are I got as much or more as the next man at the bar Could've been born a Brazilian street kid
Street value three quid undernourished soul depleted Sold like cattle in the street into the darkest industry These are real lives I realise life’s cheap
Cheaper than the sneakers that I wear on my feet Fixed up in a Mexican sweat shop
High tops or Reeboks by grand ma and she not long for this earth
She got six mouths to feed each box
Cost 90 buck a box in your local high street shops
That’s twice what she got last month as we watch
The Ronald McDonalds of hip hop rapper gods flashing rocks Check the paradox
There’s kids buying the myth of get rich or die trying
and there’s kids in below ground diamond mines dying
Digging though dirt for diamonds and gold
and the precious stones for our mobile phones
My man Ndagwe in Zimbabwe walks ten miles each day just to find there’s no work and walk back the same way
Half of the world lives on a dollar a day
and I'm complaining that I cant make a fiver stretch to
pay for sandwich and can of pop in my lunch break
Which by the way is over now
So watch the clock and hope some how
I make it though to the end of the day
I gaze out the window and I drift away and I pray
Track Name: Soundman
Sound man hey
Sound man what
Sound man whoa
Whats wrong with ya
I wanna little more in my monitor
Just a little more of me in my monitor
Sound man? Where you gone?
We're only half way through the first song
And your already out the back choking JPS black Now tell me what am I s’posed to do with that? We’re getting feed back from the crowd
They want their money back and they want it back now Would it help if I direct them to turn around and direct their complaint to the person paid to do the sound now
Can you hear the people scream
The horns are feeding back and they cant hear me
And all I can hear is an underlying hum and that aint my idea of fun
What exactly were you doing all day in soundcheck
Except for necking red bull and bumming cigarettes
Babyhead hey
Babyhead what
Babyhead whoa
What’s wrong with ya
You want a little more in your monitor?
Well there’s nothing fucking wrong with your monitor I’m the sound-man
I control the room
You're a small man, I don't know what you do
I sit watching you while jig about yelping
Whinging about how you think I'm not helping
Well maybe stay out of the public eye
'til you start turning up on time and don't cup the mic
Hip Hop it’s not true music
The crowd doesn’t care cos they're like you clueless I could be home sitting listening to sabbath
With a steak pie made by my wife Alice
Drinking real ale from a real tankard
That I take to all my civil war re-enactments
Instead I’m here watching your shitty set
Necking red bull and bumming cigarettes
Track Name: Be Someone
They used to call me Babyhead Tom!
Now it’s Tom from the pub yeah you know the one
Sat at the bar getting fat with a jar
Babbling about the things that I might have done
He coulda been someone, he shoulda been someone and now I am someone
I wanna be someone else
Listen up!
Listen up I got something to say
It aint better to burn out than fade away Listen up I got something to say
it aint better to burn out than fade away
They used to call me Babyhead Tom!
Now its' tom from the park yeah you know the one Lost in the dark, plastic bags and a broken heart Screaming at the cars I could've been someone
And my wife has gone and I got a gun
And I want my mum and it isn’t me its everyone Else
Listen up!
Listen up I got something to say
It aint better to burn out than fade away Listen up I got something to say
it aint better to burn out than fade away
They used to call me Babyhead Tom now I'm gone End of song
They used to call me Babyhead Tom!
Now I'm tom from the telly yeah you know the one
They found me on the streets MC-ing for change Rapping about how I used to be someone
The put me on the TV on a talent show
The people loved my story everywhere that I'd go
A house-hold name my brand is strong
Everywhere I go they wanna hear me sing me song I could've been someone
Went to number one Christmas number one it went platinum it flew off of the shelf
Ahh take a look at yourself
Track Name: The Bristol Missive
Whole lotta love in my neighbourhood
A whole lotta people trying to do some good
But there’s a couple knuckle heads that has misunderstood The romance of the hood in every neck of the woods Butchers, bakers and house-breakers
Family men, drunks, poets and skaters
Corner girls, songsmiths and coppers
Crack dead, teachers and punk rockers
Many aint seen the countryside
Even though it’s only a 5 minute ride
On the buses it’s daylight robbery
Bristol was built with blood money
Got a whole lotta love for the TCF crew Keeping the city pretty since '92
Before the councillors saw the pound signs True graff writers went down for time
Gotta whole lotta new shiny shops
Pushing up the rent in the tower blocks
Come bin day why are the streets are awash with more rubbish than before?
Oh my gosh!
Litter bug thug show the street no love
Dog doo-doo in the park while I’m eating my lunch
Every night in the pubs
Sound-clash so bright
Skank-rock lock-in
Highflying the low life
Bass line bubble with the drumbeat
Weeds push up through the cracks in the concrete Sirens slur with song of birds
Fast food smoke burn the smell of herb
Some of the time it’s just dismal
With the dark and the grey and the drizzle but the sun came out now its blissful Summertime
I love Bristol
